I don't know where to start in replying to Edward Rudolph's letter in the Observer (January 29).

To describe the death of an 81-year-old lady in Kenton as an "unfortunate incident" is beyond belief and very similar to police terminology.

I don't know if Edward Rudolph has ever read my letter in the Observer of January 22. But if he has he was wearing the wrong glasses at the time.

In addition to the callous crime mentioned, I referred in my letter to recent crimes in Pinner such as rapes, stabbing and muggings.

These events Edward Rudolph has conveniently overlooked. It is generally accepted that police statistics are massaged to suit the situation prevailing at the time.

I attended the Harrow Police and Community Consultative Group (HPCCG) meeting on January 22. I don't know if Edward did, but he certainly did not take the opportunity to speak to me.

I shall be happy to debate the crime situation in Harrow with Edward Rudolph whenever he wishes.
