Police have released this image of a pensioner tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident.

Frances Josephine Mullaney, 73, known to family and friends as 'Josie', suffered head injuries after a four-car pile-up in Ruislip Road, Greenford at 3:45pm on Sunday October 26.

Mrs Mullaney was in the passenger seat of a silver VW Golf when a charcoal grey Toyota MR2 smashed into the car at the canal bridge.

The pensioner who lived in Adelphi Way, Hayes, was taken to Hillingdon Hospital where she died from her injuries on Saturday November 1.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after the Toyota, reported stolen from Bourne Close, Isleworth four days earlier was found abandoned in Woodstock Avenue.

Witnesses to the accident involving a charcoal grey Toyota MR2, silver VW Golf, blue VW Golf and silver Vauxhall Corsa should call the Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton on 020 8998 5319 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The registration number of the stolen vehicle is LS06 GBU and police are keen to hear from anyone regarding the theft of the car and where it was parked in the four days before the hit-and-run smash.

No arrests have been made and inquiries continue.
