MARRIED couples are being invited to reaffirm their wedding vows alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton at a church in Chiswick.

On the day of the royal nuptials there will be a service held at St Michaels and All Angels Church, Bath Road, Chiswick where couples can reaffirm their vows as a group.

The idea was born in the The Tabard pub, opposite the church, by the landlord Tim Rider, 48, Bath Road and Vicar of St Michaels, Kevin Morris, 48, Priory Gardens.

Kevin said: "What is special about this is that a number of couples are coming together to rejoice in their love. Very few people reaffirm their vows. People seem to have a strong fear of marriage in society today. I feel this event will be an act of faith, a light in the darkness. Some people may think that the Royal wedding is commercial but at it’s core are two people who are expressing their love, it makes no difference if they are royal or not."

Kevin, who has been a vicar at the church for 15 years, will also be reaffirming his vows with his wife, Miriam, 44. They have been married for 11 years and he was the first vicar to be married in St Michaels Church in 2000.

There has been a lot of positive feed back so far. Kevin is expecting a good turn out and is hoping to fill the church. Anyone can come along whether or not they were married in St Michaels.

The after party celebrations will be held at The Tabard with cucumber sandwiches and scones.

Tim said: "I love the royals. I plan on getting very carried away with the decorations. I want Will and Kate bunting and I am going to put pictures of members of the royal family in the windows of the pub. I also want to make commemoration certificates for those who have renewed their vows. I think I will cover the pub sign with a heart for an added special effect".

Tim and his wife, Tosh, 38, are also renewing their vows on the big day.

Couples don't have to pay to attend but can donate to the church or the charity.
