A COUPLE who have spent their whole lives in Brentford celebrated 60 years of happiness together.

John and Kathleen Turner (known as Jack and Kit) met 61 years ago in the Duke of York pub in Brentford, when he was 23 and she 17.

They married the following year and have lived in Apple Garth since 1960.

Jack said: "I worked for Gillette’s on the Great West Road for 23 years and retired in 1993. We weren't part of any clubs or church groups but I have a great interest in making Second World War model aeroplanes and have a collection of over 250."

Kit, a keen gardener and baker, also worked along the Great West Road at companies including Beldam Tyre, Garrett’s and Beechams.

Jack added the pair enjoy going on holiday with their very large family.

He said: "We had our first daughter Sally Ann in 1953, our second Jacqueline Mary in 1954 and our third daughter Patricia Jane in 1955."

The pair now have a staggering 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

They spent their anniversary on Wednesday (June 20) with friends and family.
