A couple were married in a Hindu temple's first civil marriage ceremony.
Kirti Dixit and Jaswinder Kaur took their vows at the Adhya Shakti Mataji Temple in High Road, Cowley on Saturday.
The ceremony started with a Janoi 'sacred thread' ceremony at 8am, followed by breakfast of Jalabi Ganthiya and steaming masala tea.
The bride walked down the red carpet following the Diya girls, who carry candles and flowers to welcome the bride. The bride looked radiant as she walked with her brothers to the mandap, a covered dais.
The priest, Ketanbhai Kumar, chanted Sanskrit verses to purify the temple, and some 125 people attended.
