A man and a woman were saved by firefighters after their Hammersmith studio flat set on fire on Friday (January 17) evening.

The pair were treated at the scene in Charleville Road by London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation after six others evacuated the building before crews arrived.

Their studio flat was completely destroyed by the blaze but no one else was hurt.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers went to the scene from Hammersmith, Fulham, and Kensington fire stations. The Brigade was called at 7:43pm and the fire was under control at 8:41pm."

The cause of the fire is under investigation
