A PAIR of Ealing Liberal Democrat councillors have appeared in YouTube videos to promote free-to-use fitness equipment that has recently been installed at Southfield Rec.

Southfield ward councillors Andrew Steed and Gary Malcolm swapped their suits for gym and casual wear to try out two new fitness machines - a stepper and calf stretcher.

The equipment was installed earlier this month the recreation ground using funds from the Southfield Ward Forum which meets four times a year and has a budget to spend money on local projects including road safety and lighting.

Councillor Steed said: "The ward forum agreed to get these two items of fitness equipment installed so we could help give Acton and Chiswick residents more equipment to keep fit. With obesity on the rise this will be a way to get residents involved in exercising without having to pay the huge gym fees."

What do you think? Is this the sort of equipment we need in parks, or should exercising be done out of view at gyms? Email steve.bax@trinitymirror.com or tweet @EalingGazette and we'll post comments here.
