HILLINGDON Council has been named local authority of the year at The Good Communication Awards.
The awards, set up to recognise excellence in public sector communications were announced last week, praised the council's website, and use of social networking technology.
Hugh Dunnachie, chief executive of Hillingdon Council, said: “This is fantastic news for the council and my congratulations go out to those who work in the contact centre and the communications team.
“Added to the results of our residents survey which showed residents feel well informed, this shows how well we are working to get council news and information out to our residents.”
There was additional success for Hillingdon as head of communications David Holdstock was named local government communicator of the year.
They also received the Contact Centre Training Award and the Telecoms Innovation Award.
