A FAMILY eatery could lose its licence to operate after council officers came across an alleged strip act taking place inside.

Harrow Council's licensing panel will be reviewing the permits of Dawat Restaurant in Streatfield Road, Harrow, on August 3, based on an eyewitness account of an incident of June 5 at 11.15pm.

In his submission, Richard Le-Brun, food safety team leader, said: "On standing outside the premises, a person on a PA (public address) system inside could be clearly heard, saying ' before moving on to the final act and getting the girls out' and then giving instructions to the audience on what they must do if the police were to raid the premise.

"This included claiming the girls were not part of the premise but had been bought in by a customer as part of a birthday celebration."At 11.24pm the front doors were shut and locked, and the shutter remained down covering the majority of the doorway to prevent proper access and egress."

At no point during the time spent outside the premise was any person entering the premise checked for identification or age."
Councillor Susan Hall, Harrow Councillor's portfolio holder for the environment, said: "Obviously onions weren't the only sizzling item on offer at Dawat's when our officers visited.

"We have a duty to ensure premises are safe for customers in Harrow and that only those expecting to see this kind of adult show do so."
