The unexplained death of a number of fish in the pond at Feltham Green has led to the area being sealed off.

An investigation is underway by a team at the council who are conducting water tests are currently to find out the cause.

A council spokesman said: “The pond on Feltham Green has been fenced off as a precautionary measure following reports of unexplained deaths of fish.

"We are currently awaiting the results of water testing to find out what could have caused this, and these will inform any action we may need to take to reopen the pond.”

In October last year, a major clean up was carried out as aquatic life became endangered due to reduced oxygen levels, and more than a tonne of debris was removed including bicycles, scooters and traffic cones.

In the past, geese have been found responsible for a large number of deaths of the fish in the pond.
