A CHARITY is looking for people to give up their time to make a difference children in care in Hounslow.

Community Service Volunteers (CSV) is working with Hounslow Children's Services to match allies or 'befrienders' to young people in care as well as young carers.

John Kinnear, CSV project manager, said: "Volunteer befrienders can have a major impact on a young person who is having a tough time.

"They share new experiences, have fun and learn from each other. Young people in care have so many professionals in their lives; having a volunteer with whom to share the good times and talk about the bad times can make a massive difference."

Once the volunteers are CRB checked and trained they give a couple of hours each week and have an expenses budget to pay for things like trips to the cinema or the zoo.

The charity asks for a commitment of at least 18 months. * To find out more and to get involved call John Kinnear on 020 7643 1411 or email jkinnear@csv.org.uk
