I HAVE lived in and around Harlington for nearly 18 years, and both my daughters go to William Byrd School, behind these cottages, so I see them every day (Cottage is being 'destroyed', Hayes and Harlington Gazette, December 1).

I think what has been done so far is an eyesore, as it is not in keeping with the rest of the building.

In your report it said that they could not use old London bricks. Why not?

They also said the bricks they have used would in time fade and blend in with the area. Not in my lifetime they won't.

If planning permission has not been given, how can these people be allowed to get away with destroying these lovely old buildings?

They are part of Harlington's heritage and should be fully restored to their original beauty.
