PARENTS will be able to have their say on plans to expand 12 primary schools to meet demand for new places.

Harrow Council is seeking opinions on the proposed second phase of its enlargement programme, opening on Monday a consultation that closes on October 18.

Five schools are proposed for permanent expansion in 2014: Aylward Primary School, Stanmore; Belmont Primary School, Harrow; Grange Primary School, Harrow; Norbury School, Harrow; and Pinner Wood School, Pinner.

Seven are proposed for permanent expansion in 2015: Cannon Lane First and Cannon Lane Junior School, Pinner; Kenmore Park Infant and Nursery School and Kenmore Park Junior, Harrow; Newton Farm Nursery Infant and Junior School, South Harrow; Priestmead Primary School and Nursery, Kenton; St Anselm’s Catholic Primary School, Harrow; St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, Pinner; and Whitchurch First School and Whitchurch Junior School, Stanmore.

The outgoing council leader Councillor Thaya Idaikkadar (Independent Labour) said: “The council has a duty to provide school places for every child and must act to meet the unprecedented rise in children aged under five.
