A speed camera in Hanworth which was constantly flashing has been disconnected after complaints from motorists.

Engineers from Transport for London were called to inspect the camera on the A312 Hampton Road West this morning (Friday, July 25) at about 2am.

A TfL spokesman said the unit had been temporarily switched off and staff were looking into what had caused the problem.

He said the constant flashing, which could prove highly distracting to drivers on the busy road, was only thought to have been occurring for about an hour before the camera was switched off.

"It won't be affecting drivers now," added the spokesman.

A mum-of-two today said it was not the first time the camera had played up and described living beside it as being like having a lightning storm outside her window.

Blundering contractors put up a road sign wrongly saying a street was in Hanworth Park, rather than Feltham.
