A mother is distraught after her mentally ill 19-year-old son went missing.

Suleikha Guled, 40, of Hitherbroom Road in Hayes realised her son, Fathi Mohumoud, was missing when he failed to return home after going out to the shops last Thursday at 9pm.

Fathi stopped taking his medication before his family came over from Sweden in 2006, as his doctor found he was no longer showing any symptoms.

However about 10 days prior to his disappearance his family found he was again showing similar symptoms and would walk both indoors and outside continuously and was also talking a lot more.

Mrs Guled said: "I haven't been able to sleep at night, I just want my son back home, and if anyone sees him I would like them to call the police.

"I don't know how he is sleeping, I think he may just be walking endlessly."

A spokesperson for the police said: "We are concerned about the welfare of 19-year-old Fathi Mohamoud and are continuing to make enquiries to find him."
