HOMELESS animals at a Brent animal centre were given Christmas treats by compassionate bikers.

OnSunday December 18, animal loving motorcyclists from the world famous Ace Cafe in Wembley rode in a convoy to The Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green to deliver toys, treats and food to the pets at the rescue centre.

The centre, inTrenmar Gardens, is celebrating its 125th anniversary, and is looking after more than 100 cats, dogs and rabbits without permanent homes. It aims to have them adopted into suitable 'forever homes'.

Theevent, which was called the 'Paws and Claws Run' usually takes place in December, and sees benevolent bikers bring donations that The Ace Cafe have collected for the animals.

Morethan 20 motorcyclists followed the The Mayhew’s Animal Ambulance down the A406 to the rescue centre and delivered their goodies to the animals in need.

TheMayhew’s CEO, Caroline Yates, said: “It is a real treat every year to welcome the motorcyclists from the Ace Cafe at The Mayhew, as the dogs, cats and rabbits here at the home always get lavished with lots of attention from the compassionate convoy. It is wonderful they always bring us such a fantastic amount of donated goods for our homeless animals.”

Over £100 was also raised in addition to all the donated gifts of food and toys for the animals at The Mayhew.
