A woman has died after being hit by a train at Fulham Broadway during rush hour this morning.

Scores of emergency vehicles were called to the station at about 8.30am but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hordes of commuters witnessed the distressing incident, which happened on the eastbound line.

Will G said: "Somebody has fallen under the Tube I was waiting for. Probably one of the saddest days of my life."

Other commuters told of fellow pasengers being conforted on platform steps.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed the woman was dead at the scene. A spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to Fulham Broadway London Underground Station on Wednesday, July 17 after reports a woman was struck by an eastbound District Line train.

"Officers from the Met police, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance attended the incident which was reported to BTP at 8.34 and is being treated as non suspicious. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A file has been prepared for the coroner."
