Preston Community Library, in Brent, has announced a range of new facilities, activities and extended opening hours for June.

The volunteer-run charity has installed four computers for public use and free wi-fi for library users to log on to while they're in the building.

The library, which has been running since May, now also has reading rooms and study spaces for students preparing for their exams.

Philip Bromberg, of Preston Community Library, said: “A huge amount has happened since we opened the library a month ago.

"From today we intend to open the library to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays as well as Mondays and Saturdays."

Samantha Warrington, trustee of Preston Community Library, said: “As the council continues to cut the services it offers, we are maximising the value to the community of the library building.

“As well as promoting literacy, digital inclusion and health and well-being, we are helping to ensure community sustainability – with some ward working money, but mainly with donations of money, time and skills from our amazing supporters.”
