VOLUNTEERS are needed to help clean up Whitton's River Crane this weekend.

The London Wildlife Trust (LWT) has called on people to help shift rubbish from the river on Sunday, from 10.30am to 4pm.

Helpers should meet at the park's shot tower, near the entrance in Ellerman Avenue.

Artists will be on hand throughout the day to transform rubbish into temporary installations and there will be a prize for the most unusual piece of junk found.

Volunteers should wear old clothes and wellies (which can be provided if necessary). Refreshments, including hot drinks, will be available, but anyone staying the whole day is advised to bring a packed lunch.

The stretch of river is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including kingfishers, water voles and herons.
