A GENEROUS pensioner who founded a Hounslow club for the elderly has asked for £1,000 to be left to a local children's charity in her will.
Irene Isaia, who died of bowel cancer in February, aged 84, was one of the founders of The Friendship Club, a group where the elderly can get together and enjoy entertainment and group outings.
Before she died, Irene asked for cash to be donated to the Shooting Star Children's Hospice in her name.
Staff from the Hampton hospice went down to The Friendship Club at St Bridget's Church, in Twickenham Road, Isleworth, on Monday to receive their cheque from Irene's daughter, Teresa Pope.
Teresa, 56, of Avinger Gardens said: "My mum spent most of her life in Isleworth and kept the friendship group running for 13 years.
"She was a very, very caring and generous woman. Everybody who came to the club was made to feel so welcome by her. She knew the club's funds were quite healthy so thought she would share some of the love with Shooting Star."
