Over the weeks of the local election campaign I have been absolutely delighted with the response from local people to our positive campaign. I have met hundreds of residents across the borough who have promised the Conservatives their support.

Especially welcome has been the number of people who have said how much they agree with our Seven Top priorities for our Borough. Like us they want a council that will offer them great value services, that will clean up Hounslow, introduce a fair parking policy and a new Hounslow Card that will offer 30 minutes free parking and reduced prices at our leisure centres, that will create a Street Volunteer Scheme, attempt to reduce the number of councillors by a third and that will encourage home building and a good education.

We have a clear vision and are the only party that has a detailed 14 page manifesto that will lead to a cleaner Hounslow, safer communities, a greener environment, new opportunities for young and old, a parking revolution and greater value for money. I am truly amazed that the other parties who are after your votes haven’t bother to work out where they stand on the big questions of our time - the questions that will decide the future of our borough.  Some have just come out with a few promises masquerading as a manifesto. Other parties are making promises that they can’t possibly fulfil such a guaranteeing every child their first preference primary school. With us you know exactly where we stand on every aspect of the work of Hounslow Council.

I am also disappointed that our opponents have resorted to lies and half-truths in their literature. They say we are against wheelie bins and wanted to close Chiswick fire station - both are a lie. They say we are against Brentford FC new stadium – some Conservative councillors did vote against this but one voted for it which is perfectly fine as there is no party whip on planning matters. They say the last council was allegedly a shambles that spent £5.4 million on consultants and made 400 people redundant.

Well we did spend on consultants and we did, as have the present administration, make people redundant but this enabled us to save over £50 million which allowed us to freeze the Council Tax for four years in a row at a time when virtually no other council was doing this, double recycling, halve graffiti, plant 1000 new trees, invest £35m in libraries, parks and leisure and a further £2 million in community safety. My favourite one is that voting for us would lead to the downgrading of Charing Cross Hospital when it was Conservative councillors who opposed the closure of A&E whilst the Labour Council supported the option which would have led to the complete closure of the hospital!

On May 22nd voters in Hounslow will have a clear choice between a Labour Party, which has forgotten that its purpose is to provide a service to residents or a Conservative administration which will keep your costs down, improve frontline services and deliver value for money.

We are passionate about Hounslow and want the best for all who live and work in the Borough. We put the people of the Borough at the heart of everything we do and we have a clear and positive vision of a thriving, successful Hounslow. If you share our vision please don’t leave it to others.
