CHELSEA police launched an operation to stop antisocial boy racers revving super cars around the back streets of Knightsbridge last week.

Following residents complaints, a team of sergeants, traffic experts and PCs spent eight hours – from 10pm to 6am – monitoring the streets around the famous Harrods store on Thursday.

They were acting after residents complained that young men were racing Ferraris and Bugattis around area, sometimes using cars with Arab number plates – which may have been brought into the country without being properly registered with the authorities.

Police say the problem is particularly evident in Summer months.

No arrests were made during the operation, but police are intent to launch more in an attempt to deter antisocial driving.
