A RETIRED solicitor trekked across an Indian mountain range to raise money for an international aid charity.

Emer Cashin, 53, of Dukes Avenue, Chiswick, tackled the Himalayas to raise money for ActionAid and helped renovate a homeless shelter.

She said: "I have supported ActionAid and their work for a long time and I thought taking on the challenge was a great idea and I wanted to see some of the projects out there.

"I was a bit nervous to begin with, but I had a fantastic time and now I am planning on climbing Kilamanjaro in the autumn."

She left her friends and family to spend just over three weeks in the Asian country.
