CHILDREN celebrated 60 years of the Queen’s reign with a day of activities.

Pupils of all ages at Welldon Park Infant and Nursery School in Kingsley Road, South Harrow, indulged in the fun and festivities on Friday.

All children dressed up in red, white and blue or as princes and princesses and pupils from reception and year one worked with Splats Entertainment to produce a play in one day, called The Bungaroo and The Queen’s Jubilee.

Headteacher Trisha Serby said: “A bungaroo is a cross between a kangaroo and a bunny, apparently. It was quite funny and the children acted it out for the school.

“The older children were playing traditional British games during the morning and after school we held an international food party, which was really very nicely received.

“Everybody enjoyed it. I was dressed as the Queen as the children kept curtseying and inviting me for tea.”

Parents brought in everything from Sri Lankan to Jamaican food and even Macedonian cuisine for the excited youngsters to try in the school hall.
