COMEDIAN and chat show host Alan Carr donated his winnings from the TV gameshow Million Pound Drop to The Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green.

He appeared on the edition of the programme broadcast on Friday on Channel 4 and gave the £2,500 prizemoney to the animal rescue centre in Trenmar Gardens.

Alan, 38, who lives in west London, said: "I am thrilled to have been able to help The Mayhew Animal Home - even in such a small way.

"They deserve every penny and I just hope my appearance on the show will inspire people to donate their time or money to this great charity and give some wonderful animals a second chance."

Caroline Yates, chief executive of the animal home, said: “We would like to thank Alan Carr for choosing to donate his winnings to our rescue centre.

"No animal should have to live in fear of cruelty or neglect from the very people who should be caring for them.

"As a charity we are entirely reliant on donations and every penny goes towards helping pets and finding them caring, loving homes."
