A HAMMERSMITH charity shop cannot display its Christmas prize hamper in the shop window because of fears it will be stolen.

Thieves have previously pinched the Christmas box of treats from the British Heart Foundation display window leaving the store without a raffle prize.

The hamper includes festive treats such as mince pies, Christmas pudding, redcurrant jelly and wine.

Now Angela Greene, 55, manager of the Hammersmith shop, has decided to keep the hamper out of temptation's way inside the store.

She said: "It’s a shame we probably would get more people in to buy raffle tickets if we could put it in the window, but we can’t risk it being stolen as we won’t get another one."

Customers can buy raffle tickets for £1 from the British Heart Foundation, King’s Road, with the money raised helping the charity reach its £500,000 target. Entrants will also be entered into the national draw to win £2,500 worth of holiday vouchers.

The winning ticket will be drawn by a member of the public on December 23 2011.
