MORE than 200 people have already signed up to the 12th annual Moor Park 10k run – including the Gazette’s very own Hannah Raven.

The Stewarts Law Moor Park 10k and Junior Fun Runs will take place on September 29, and people of all ages are being encouraged to take part and raise funds for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre (LJMC), the support and information service at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.

The race starts at Merchant Taylors’ School and participants will run on paths through the picturesque surrounding areas while the 1.3k race for children is held on the school playing field.

The project is being overseen by the centre’s latest recruit, fundraiser Daniel Craggs,

He said: “The Moor Park 10k has a great reputation locally and I’m really looking forward to working with such a great team on the LJMC’s largest annual event.

“I’m definitely being thrown in at the deep end; last year’s race raised more than £50,000 and I’ve been given the goal to beat that.”

A funfair and other entertainment will be on offer for those not wishing to tie-up their trainers while they wait for their friends and family to cross the finish line.

LJMC is only partially funded by the NHS, relying on charitable activities and donations for the remainder of its income.

“The work of the LJMC is incredibly special,” said Daniel. “It really will be a pleasure to work to raise as much as we can to support people affected by cancer.

“Last year the LJMC received more than 30,000 requests for help which it was able to meet thanks to the generosity of its supporters.”

There is no charge for the LJMC’s services which include a drop-in centre, counselling, complementary therapies and welfare benefits advice.
