A SON has arranged a charity football match at Rayners Lane FC in memory of his father who used to manage the team.
Gary Fairhead wanted to raise cash for St Luke's Hospice, which had cared for the late Ron Fairhead, of Courtenay Avenue, Harrow Weald.
A Rayners Lane XI will play a Ron Fairhead XI at Tithe Farm Sports and Social Club in Rayners Lane, South Harrow, with the game kicking off at 7.15pm on Friday, May 3.
Mr Fairhead said: "I am holding a memorial game for my Dad, who passed away last year after a long battle against cancer.
"He died while in the care of St Lukes Hospice. I was amazed to hear they have to raise 70 per cent of the £3 million needed to fund the hospice from donations.
"Hence why I decided to put on this memorial game. My dad worked for over 30 years in grass roots football, managing teams from Parkfield, Harrow St Mary's, Hanwell Town, Sudbury Court and Greenford Royals.
"He spent the best part of his career at Rayners Lane FC. Towards the end he also was involved with Middlesex County Representative Side and started the running of a football side at Grimsdyke School.
"We hope to make as much money as we can for St Luke's Hospice."
Tickets to the game will be £5 on door and under-16s can watch the match for free.
After the final whistle there will be food and live music and a charity auction.
