A SINGING showcase that will raise vital funds for a local hospice is to feature a tribute to the late Michael Jackson.
The annual Voices for Hospices concert organised by St Luke's Hospice, in Kenton Grange, Kenton, takes place on Saturday, October 10 at the University of Westminster's Harrow Campus in Watford Road, Harrow.
Tickets are normally £15 but, by using the coupon on this page, Observer readers can obtain an early bird dis-count, thereby paying just £9.50 for a seat.
Less than a third of the hospice's income is derived from
the NHS, so it is reliant on donations and generating cash itself to cover the £3m annual cost of the palliative care it provides free to around 500 patients from Harrow and Brent each year.
On the bill for next month's extravaganza are Stagecoach, a performing arts school for
children that meets at Rooks Heath College for Business and Enterprise in Eastcote Lane, South Harrow, and The Sharpe Academy, a theatre school based at Harrow High School in Gayton Road, Harrow.
Pupils from the two schools will belt out show tunes from the likes of Hairspray, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Oliver.
Harrow Big Brass Band and the Harrow Youth Gospel Choir are to perform, as are a cast from Flash Musicals doing their homage to superstar Michael Jackson.
Terry Revill, co-founder of Flash Musicals, said: “I am looking forward to working in partnership with St Luke’s Hospices for Voices for Hospices day. We are also looking forward to playing a tribute to Michael Jackson.”
