COULD you be the next James Cameron or Quentin Tarantino?

A unique film competition is offering the chance for budding film makers to showcase their creative talents.

A joint project between Film London and Hillingdon Council, the challenge is to make a 90 second film about 'what is great about Hillingdon'.

Films can be created on film, video, or digital media using mobile phones or webcam and can include animation.

The competition is open to people of all ages.

All entries will be viewed and shortlisted under three different categories.

These are under 12 years old, ages 13 to 17, and 18 plus.

From the winners in each category, one winner will be chosen and receive a cash prize of £300.

As an added incentive, the winning film will be entered into the Film London Best of Borough Film Awards, which will pit the best films from the competing boroughs against each other.

Councillor Henry Higgins, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, said: "We know that we have a wealth of creative talent in Hillingdon and I can't wait to see the films our residents will make.

"This is a chance to shine and you never know we may discover the next James Cameron here in Hillingdon."

The closing date for entries is Friday 16 April at 5pm and more information, including the entry form, can be found at kholliday@hillingdongrid.org

A workshop will also be hosted on Saturday (6/3) for interested residents to introduce them to award-winning filmmakers.

It will be hosted at 11am at the Compass Theatre, Glebe Avenue, Ickenham.
