Four regulars of a Hayes pub celebrated into the night after winning £30,000 in the Euromillions lottery.

But it took the syndicate a couple of days to discover they had won.

Gary Gilchrist, who owns The Brook House pub in Kingshill Avenue,Hayes, said: "They realised on the Sunday when they all met up in the pub.

"They were all buying champagne. The credit crunch was forgotten down here for a day or two.

"They are all planning on going on holiday over Christmas time, somewhere hot."

One of the lucky four is John Rees, 45.

Mr Gilchrist said: "John has drunk here for over 20 years; he's a very well-known character in the pub.

"They are all lifelong friends and I'm very happy for them. They have been down here ever since. They spent about £15 on the syndicate, which is quite a lot - but now they've won, it is all worth it."
