A pub which was forced to close its doors at the busiest time of the year is set to reopen this week.

The Queen's Head in Windsor Street, Uxbridge will open today (Wednesday) to the delight of its long standing tenants.

Anne Bridgewater, who runs the pub with her husband, Phil, said: "We will have a new menu, the same wines, by and large the same staff, and will be owned by a new company - which is why we closed down in the first place."

Punch Taverns snapped up the pub, and several others after the Orchid Group was placed in administration in December.

But this meant the pub had to close immediately, missing out on Christmas trade.

Mrs Bridgewater said: "The company went into administration but we didn't even know. Phil and I turned up on the Saturday and the shutters were down and we found out what had happened.

"It was a horrible shock, at such a bad time of year, we were looking forward to Christmas and New Year - we'd had a brilliant couple of weeks."
