A gang of 16-year-olds who allegedly left a man fighting for his life after attacking him in Feltham have been rounded up by police and charged thanks to high-quality CCTV cameras in The Centre.

All six of the teenage suspects, five of whom are from Feltham and one from Manchester, were arrested the weekend after the attack, on Friday, June 27.

And yobs from old cases could also be targeted using the cameras, with police now trawling through past footage to try to identify more trouble-makers.

Det Insp Andy Rose, of Hounslow Police, said: "This was a very violent and unprovoked attack that left the 24-year-old victim with life-threatening head injuries.

"The high quality of the CCTV footage from The Centre allowed officers and security staff to quickly identify suspects and make arrests.

"The quality of that footage has been extremely useful and in fact we are now hoping to look back through old cases and see if it can be used in any of those."

The victim has regained consciousness but is still undergoing tests to assess the long-term impact of his ordeal.

The five recently charged suspects will appear at Feltham Youth Court on August 12.
