STAFF at an Acton vets are caring for a cat and kitten found abandoned outside their practice.

The semi-longhaired mother and her young one were dumped outside the Goddard Veterinary Group in Horn Lane late on July 12.

The pets, who had been put in a cat carrier with a boiled egg, were discovered shaking with fear by a neighbour of the practice and were taken in overnight.

Now the vets are urging people not to leave animals in this way, but rather, to seek help if they are experiencing difficulty in caring for them.

Vet Genevieve Touzel said that when the cats were first brought in they were in a state of great distress.

She said they have given them a full health check and flea treatment and they are now relaxing into beautiful, friendly and playful cats.

She said: “We think the mum is about a year to 18-months-old and her kitten is about 16 weeks. We’ve called the cat ‘Yoko’ and her black kitten, ‘Ono’.

“We know times are hard but urge people who are having problems caring for their pets to contact local rescue charities or their vet rather than simply abandoning them.

“There is help available and animals shouldn’t be left to suffer in this way. These two are lucky because they were found in the nick of time and we hope that we’ll soon be able to find loving homes for them.”

Anyone interested in offering a home to Yoko, Ono or both is asked to contact The Goddard Veterinary Group in Acton on 0208 896 0398.
