I have lived in The Warren in Heston for 45 years and have seen the parking problems increase.
Many years ago the council recognised the problem and replaced a majority of the grass verges with a type of concrete block that was supposed to let grass grow through but at the same time allow a hard standing for parked cars.
The idea was not completely successful as the grass did not grow that well and some residents retained the natural grass verge in front of their houses.
This was all done so manyyears ago that I doubt if those incumbent on sending officials to issue parking tickets to motorists parking on these concrete verges remember that they were put there to park on. And no law was brought in to stop parking on these concrete strips.
Those so keen to enforce parking laws would be better employed to take action against those people who park inconsiderately at the road junctions of The Crossways and The Warren and Vicarage Farm Road and The Crossways.
The Highway Code does state that you should not park within 10 yards of a junction.
I thought that a company recently engaged on weeding out ineffective and surplus staff within our council may have got rid of the wrong ones.
