A CONFUSED car rental company manager received photos of a parking offence without featuring a car.

Omar Mohamed, manager of Dena Motors, The Arches, Harrow, was sent a penalty notice by Brent Council which alleged one of his drivers had parked on Braemar Avenue illegally.

However, one of the photos in the notice showed a road sign and the other was a close up of a residential property.

Mr Mohamed said: “I didn’t know what it was all about when I saw the picture, but I got in touch with my driver and it is all sorted now.”

The manager contacted Brent Council after receiving the notice on Friday, December 9, and was referred to their website, where he found more photos of the offence that clearly showed one of his drivers parked illegally.

One of his customers, Abdul Yusuf, from Hayes, said: “I thought it was absolutely hilarious. I thought it was a joke at first, but then I saw all the legal stuff underneath. It’s unbelievable how they can do this, I was sure it was a scam.”

Mr Mohamed said the company has since paid the fine.

A Brent Council spokesman said the confusion was called because if fines are issued electronically the first two pictures on the system are chosen, but said all pictures taken by the cameras were relevant as these two showed a street sign and parking sign.

If the fine is issued manually, a council worker would choose the photos showing the vehicle, the council added.
