A 40-YEAR-OLD motorist died this morning following a car crash yesterday in South Harrow.
The vehicle he was driving struck a telegraph pole in Kings Road at 3.35pm and no other cars or people were involved, according to the Metropolitan Police's Alperton traffic investigation unit.
The victim suffered a heart attack and was taken to hospital in a "life threatening" condition but passed away today.
It is not known if he suffered the attack before or after the crash, or if it was the actual cause of death - questions that a post-mortem examination will help answer.
"The first of the ambulances arrived within seven minutes and the patient, believed to be a 40-year-old man, was cardiac arresting," said a spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service.
"Our staff made efforts to resuscitate the man at the scene and he was taken to Hammersmith Hospital in west London, which has a specialist cardiac care unit, in a life-threatening condition.
"He was taken by road ambulance with the air ambulance crew on board."
Paramedics also examined an 8-year-old child, although it is not clear if the youngster was in the car with the 40-year-old.
