A CANNABIS factory was discovered above a shop in Harefield High Street.

Police discovered 42 live cannabis plants and 76 empty pots, believed to have recently held plants, when they searched the property. The occupant has not been traced.

The property had been altered for the sole purpose of growing plants, with a full lighting, heating and fertilisation system in operation.

A police spokeswoman said: “It is clear that a lot of time and money has been invested by the suspect to buy the equipment and rent the premises for this purpose.”

Police are keen to find the person who set up the Harefield factory.

They have urged people to make themselves aware of the signs that a property might be being used to grow cannabis plants.
