A CALL has been for more people to join Hounslow's band of nearly 4,000 volunteers.

Open days are being held throughout Volunteers Week, which runs from Wednesday (June 1) until next Tuesday (June 7), to show people how they can make a difference in their community.

Members of Volunteer Centre Hounslow (VCH) will also be in Hounslow High Street handing out goodies and encouraging people to sign up to support one of the borough's many organisation.

There are already an estimated 3,700 volunteers across Hounslow helping out at one of the 350 organisations registered with the VCH.

The VCH will have open days at its offices on the top floor of Hounslow's Treaty Centre every weekday during Volunteers Week, from 10am to 3pm.

Visitors can learn about opportunities near them, which can help develop skills and meet new people, at the open days. Everyone registering as a volunteer during the week will also be entered into a prize draw.
