Call for Lib Dem HS2 victims to quit party

AN ANTI-HS2 campaigner has called on Liberal Democrat members affected by the line to quit the party following Nick Clegg’s support for the scheme.

Last week, the Lib Dem leader and deputy prime minister said the government needed to be ‘ruthless’ to force through HS2 and said that he is a ‘passionate advocate’ of the scheme.

Marilyn Fletcher, from Great Missenden, Bucks, believes Liberal Democrats who will be affected by the line should tear up their membership cards.

“It would send a strong message to Nick Clegg and other Liberal Democrats,” she said.
