A GROUP of businesswomen have bared all in a bid to raise the profile of their area and generate cash for charity.

Caroline Annis, Laura Forsyth and Alex Watson, stripped off with about 30 other residents to create the revealing calendar, dubbed Behind W3, in time for Christmas.

Carefully positionsed props maintain the models' dignity, in the style of the calendar created by members of a Yorkshire Women's Institute in 1999, turned into the successful film, Calendar Girls, in 2003.

The three women all live near Churchfield Road, Acton, the street they see as the heart of their community and somewhere they want to promote.

Ms Forsyth, 48, who runs the Village Trading Store in the road, said: "Caroline came up with the idea after watching the film one morning, joking about us doing it.

"Two weeks later Alex and I were having dinner and we thought 'we have to do this'.

"We started asking people who said yes straight away with everyone giving up their time for free, including the two amazing photographers."

Despite only having a feather boa to hide behind, Ms Forsyth, AKA Miss December, found posing for the camera was not as intimidating as she may had feared.

She said: "When you have to stand very still for a very long time you don't really think about it. You're just thinking 'is my head tilted in the right way? Is the light good?'

"And it's all very tastefully done."

Money from sales will go to APPLE art block in Acton Park, another charity yet to be chosen and Derwentwater School, whose pupils' parents make up some of the models. Others are traders in Churchfield Road and neighbours living in the area, part of the aim of the calendar is to promote their work.

Ms Forsyth, said: "So many people who live and work here are very, very talented and many make their own things. We want to raise their profile."

The calendar will be launched at a boutique market at the Rocket pub in Churchfield Road. The three creators of the calendars, who all run their own businesses, will be among residents manning 35 stalls at the event tomorrow from 12pm until 5pm. Entrance is free and money raised will go to Derwentwater School.
