A BURST water main has caused havoc in Heston and Hounslow, with schools closed and bottled water flying off the shelves.
Residents woke up this morning (July 8) to find themselves without water as the area's main water pipe burst in Greenford Road, Ealing.
Children were being turned away from schools as they had no water, while Thames Water engineers attempted to fix the pipe.
Richard Grant lives in the area and owns properties in Heston and Hounslow Central. He said: "I took my son to Lampton School, where he goes, and we were told it was closed as there was no water. I've also got properties in Heston and Hounslow Central and my tenants have been calling me up telling me they have no water.
"I went into the shop just before 9:30am and all the bottled water had gone because people obviously bought it as soon as they realised they had no water."
Thames Water has been updating residents on its progress via its Twitter page, @thameswater .
At 9:30am they tweeted that their engineers are on-site and they will have a further update at 10:30. They added: "Once again we're sorry for the trouble caused."The Chronicle can confirm Lampton School is closed and will have updates on which other schools are closed and when the problem will be fixed.
