AN ELM tree has been planted in Brook Green to mark a blossoming union of two residents associations.

Friends of Brook Green and the Brook Green Association merged last spring and on Friday last week, one year on, the tree, named New Horizon, was planted on the green in Shepherd’s Bush Road.

Brook Green Association has represented more than 400 residents in the surrounding streets for the past 30 years, while Friends of Brook Green was set up three years ago under a council initiative to look after the park. Since the merger, the newly formed Friends of Brook Green helped fundraise for and redesign the playground which was opened by Olympics 2012 gold medal rower Tom James last summer.

Future projects include redesigning and rebuilding the hut, improving the tennis courts and the open grass areas.
