One of Hounslow's most renowned companies has done it again - Brompton Bicycles has been named as one of the final 10 import/export businesses in this year's European Business Awards.

The budding Kew Bridge based company, which marked 25 years of full-time production in November last year, is one of 100 businesses from across the continent to be put forward as finalists in the third and last round of judging.

The 100 finalists beat nearly 300 others to get into the finals, and all 100 were given the Ruban d'Honneur - an award celebrating their business accomplishments as well as dynamism, focus and ethical standards.

Will Butler-Adams, Brompton's managing director, said: “Recognition like the Ruban d’Honneur is a milestone for how far we’ve come, having seen exports grow to 80% of the business in 25 years of full time production.

"We are a British business but Europe is one of our most important markets; I have to thank all of our distributing partners for their hard work in developing our brand.”

Brompton Bicycle exports their famous folding bikes to 43 countries worldwide - including more than 20 in Europe.

They will now join the 99 other organisations in face-to-face interviews before a judging panel made up of European business and political leaders, academics and entrepreneurs. The 10 overall category winners will be announced at a gala event on May 27 in Athens, Greece.

Mr Butler-Adams added that the company is proud to have been recognised for exceptional achievement in the Import/Export category and looks forward to impressing the judges during the final stage of the competition.
