WE TRIED to drive to the Denham boot sale on Saturday, but after being stuck in traffic jams near the site for an hour, we saw that the roundabout leading into the venue was also completely blocked, so we had to come home without getting in.
The trouble is, many local councils have closed down most of the small boot sales held on school fields, so everyone from about three counties who likes boot sales has to drive to the massive one in Denham.
The roads leading to it could not cope on Saturday. Boot sales are a good way of recycling, because an item that one person doesn't want may be another person's treasure.
This is a very good way to use resources and save many items going into landfill, and such sales also raise money for schools.
It's much better to have small boot sales, and councils such as Hillingdon should consider allowing some of those they closed down, if they are not in a congested residential area.
