BRENTFORD School for Girls saw an enormous leap in GCSE results but the scandal surrounding English exams proved to be a thorn in their side.

An impressive 95 percent of girls managed to achieve A*-C grades, a 9 percent increase on last year's results.

However, if English and Maths were added into the equation, only 58 percent of girls achieved A*-C grades, which the school partially blamed on the changes in marking to English GCSE papers.

The school has said there will be some remarking and discussion nationally to address this issue.

Some of  the students who performed particularly well were Nataliya Abramenko with 10 A*s and two As and Jodie O Farrel with 10 A*s and one A, while both Hadiya Khan and Sabrina Singh achieved eight A*s and three As.

Headteacher Marais Leenders, said: "The results show that the school continued to improve on its successes from last year.

"A special thank you to staff, students and parents who have all worked so incredibly hard to achieve such great success!"
