A Brentford primary school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for ensuring pupils are well prepared for 'life in modern Britain'.

Our Lady and St John's RC Primary School, in Boston Park Road, retained its 'good' rating in its first inspection since a tougher marking regime was introduced.

Inspectors, who visited the school in October, heralded a recent improvement in top reading, writing and maths grades, which were all above average, among children leaving the school.

They also said the school provided a range of activities to successfully develop pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness, adding 'they are well prepared for life in modern Britain'.

The school was rated good in the report published this month for all criteria except early years provision, which inspectors said could be improved by giving pupils access to a wider range of outdoor resources.
