RARE Crested Geckos have been welcomed to a Brentford pet store to capitalise on the growing demand for keeping reptiles as pets.
Pets at Home in London Road is already home to Bearded Dragons and Lesopard Geckos but following the huge increase in the popularity of reptiles as household pets have welcomed a new breed.
Antonio Monterio, Store Manager said: “The team is specially trained to offer the best pet care advice possible to anyone thinking of having a reptile as a pet and we are very excited about our recent arrivals at the store.”
Before the early 1990s there were growing rumours that the Crested Gecko could possibly be extinct. They originate from the humid and densely forested island of New Caledonia situated between Australia and Fiji.
It is therefore essential that they live in a controlled, closely monitored humid vivarium with plenty of places to hide.
Antonio said: “Provided you have the right equipment, knowledge and can commit to caring for them throughout their lives – up to 14 years, they make excellent pets, especially for people with busy lives or hair allergies.”
