Upcoming good news events are threefold as the future looks bright for the manager of Brentford’s weekly market.

Neil Vanstone, 39, is proprietor of The Coffee Traveller which has been a fixture of the town centre since the market began a year ago.

Since then it has been part of a true success story locally as traders gather every seven days to promote their wares to hordes of keen shoppers.

And the good news just keeps on coming with no less than three key events to look forward to in coming weeks.

This Sunday (11) sees Mr Vanstone’s stall mark its first birthday and while there will be celebrations, they will be as nothing compared to what is to come.

For in two weeks time he and the rest of his market colleagues have been told they can return to their regular pitch in front of the old Magistrates’ Court.

Since April they have been running from nearby Market Place road while regeneration works worth £2million take place.

Once back where they belong, Mr Vanstone says Hounslow Council has told him it will be only eight weeks until the whole renovation project is complete.

This will see the area in front of the court paved with York stone while there will be notable additions in the form of fountains, benches, and trees and shrubs.

The court itself is also being gutted and transformed into luxury apartments with capacity on the ground floor for a new restaurant.

The whole thing has Mr Vanstone, a Brentford local for 10 years, purring with excitement and as he told getwestlondon, the future is looking glorious.

He said: “It’s going to look incredible when it’s finished. I love being a local and having a trade here, these are such exciting times.

“Our anniversary this Sunday will be marked, but really its more about the months to come and how we build on the incredible success we’ve had so far.

“We’re looking to compare like for likes at other markets and monitor things so we can keep the success going as we move forward.

“Eventually we hope to expand the number of stalls and I really can’t thank the local community enough for their support this past year.

“They’ve given us the confidence to know the future is bright.”

The Coffee Traveller will use its anniversary on Sunday to launch a new coffee called The Spring Blend which sees a mainly Columbian bean selection blended with those from Kenya and Burundi.

The market takes place from 10am-2pm.
