A 15-YEAR-OLD has been arrested following a suspected arson in Neasden.

Police were called on Monday at 6.40pm to reports of a fire in a service road on the North Circular.

Officers and London Fire Brigade attended the scene and found a number of tyres had been set alight and thick black smoke was seen rising above the area.

A team from London Ambulance Service attended the blaze but no one was injured.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of arson and has been bailed to return.

The fire took place at the junction of the A406 and Brook Road and the London Fire Brigade tweeted: “We’re attending a tyre fire on North Circular Road, Neasden. It’s producing thick black smoke so close your doors and windows if you’re near.”

A spokesman for the brigade said after the incident: “We sent three fire engines and 15 fire fighters from Hendon and Willesden fire stations. We were called at 6.36pm. There was damage to a pedestrian bridge that was in the tyre yard. The fire was under control at 7.47pm and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”

Parts of the North Circular Road were closed on Bank Holiday Monday and reopened at 9pm.
